Golden Bison Company, LLC is a producer of premium quality food products, whose core features are bison meat and its nutritional attributes.  Golden Bison values include the propagation of bison and the grasslands upon which they roam, and ranching as a traditional way of life.  The company was founded in 2003 and is owned by Joe Ricketts.

Our bison are produced under strict guidelines ensuring individual animal identification, feed source verification, authentication of animal care and husbandry, and all other facets of food safety and animal welfare.   The bison are produced by ranchers and their families of both native and non-native American heritage.

Our grass fed bison are harvested in the third fall (August-December) following their birth, between 26 and 30 months of age. They have been given no additional hormones to artificially promote their growth or antibiotics, nor have they ever been fed products containing parts of other animals.

Why Bison?
We’ve noticed that American consumers’ tastes are becoming more sophisticated and adventuresome. The animal that used to be known as “buffalo” (a taxonomically incorrect term) is now more accurately appreciated for its flavorful and healthy meat - and, by its correct name too: bison! Our company’s focus is to satisfy a collective Appetite for Goodness ™ by bringing America’s “original red meat” to the dinner table.

Bison has a sweet, rich flavor that’s comparable to beef and every bit as delicious. The benefits don’t stop at the taste; American bison is high in iron and protein, and contains heart healthy Omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, it’s lower in fat than choice beef with less cholesterol than chicken or salmon.
